Our annual music and dance weekend has gained a national reputation among dancers and old-time musicians. The second weekend in March we gather 200 people for workshops, dances, jamming, and fun a few hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The fun includes skiing on 53K of groomed trails at Maplelag, a cross-country ski resort that’s been home to MooseJaw for many years. The setting is beautiful; we have use of the entire lodge. The huge hot tub is a hit with worn-out dancers and every year a few brave souls jump in the lake (through a hole cut in the ice) after relaxing in the sauna. The emphasis is on old-time music and square dancing, but we like to mix it up, too. In addition to a great old-time band and experienced caller, every year a second band performs for dances and we offer related workshops. In the past we’ve offered workshops in swing, Cajun, zydeco, and Scandinavian dancing.
